Woodside International Horse Trials celebrates the 2018 Area VI Championships
Woodside, CA, October 4, 2018 — The Woodside International Horse Trials is set to highlight the United States Eventing Associations (USEA) Area VI Championships this year. Area VI is one of ten Areas in the USEA, and Area VI is the only Area for the USEA that contains only one state. In this case it is California. This highly-anticipated event, presented by Equine Insurance of California, CWD, Devoucoux, and Professionals’ Choice; invites the best horses and riders for their chance to become Champion in their division.
Hosted at the beautiful Horse Park at Woodside, the Area VI Championships for the highest levels will be hosted within the International divisions at the event. “This is the first time the Area has chosen to host the Advanced, Intermediate and Preliminary Horse Championships in the International classes. We believed that the championship classes would be bring the best horses and riders to the competition by hosting these at the Woodside International Horse Trials 3* (Advanced), 2* (Intermediate) and 1* classes (Preliminary Horse)”, said Area VI Chair Christine Scarlett.
Ian Stark has taken these international cross country courses to entirely new places for 2018. The inclusion of the newly enhanced water feature coupled with the of the addition of new jumping elements along the new tracks installed by national course designer and builder Bert Wood will provide competitors serious test in the most infuential phase of the event.
“Woodside’s cross country course is monopolizing some previously unused terrain creating some exciting new cross country jumps” said international cross country course designer Ian Stark.
Spectators are welcome and encouraged! A car fee of $10 guarantees parking and an event program as well as access to the horse parks open viewing areas. The International classes and Area VI Advanced, Intermediate and Preliminary Horse championships commence on Friday with dressage at 8AM October 5 and Show Jumping starting at 2PM, and then culminates on Saturday October 6 at 8AM with the exciting cross country jumping over Ian Stark’s testing track.
This year Ride On Video has brought Live Streaming to a whole new level for the Woodside International Horse Trials. The latest technology coupled with the commentary from WEG commentator Ed Holloway and Malcolm Hook a long time legend in Area VI will provide spectators on and off the show grounds with the best event coverage. Event director Robert Kellerhouse boasted “Bob and Debi Ravenscroft from Ride on Video have taken our events coverage to places once considered out of reach. Their dedication to advancing our events coverage is incredible”.
